Video: talkSPORT pundit claims Spurs player is unique for England

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent has suggested that Dele Alli will be crucial to England’s chances in the Euros this summer.

While Alli has been a key player for Gareth Southgate over the past few years, the midfielder hasn’t featured for the Three Lions since the Nations League finals last summer.

While a combination of injuries and a lack of form saw the 23-year-old lose his place in the England side, he has seen an upturn in form since the arrival of Jose Mourinho to Spurs.

The midfielder faces considerable competition to make the England squad with several English attacking midfielders shining in the Premier League this season including Leicester City’s James Maddison, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, and Chelsea’s Mason Mount.

However, Bent feels the Spurs star offers something that nobody else in Southgate’s squad does. Watch what the former England striker said on talkSPORT about Dele’s chances of making the England squad:

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe Dele is guaranteed to make the squad as his game is different from the likes of Maddison, Mount and Grealish, who are all fairly similar. Dele has gone off the boil a bit over the last few weeks owing largely to Kane’s injury. If the England captain can get himself fully fit before the Euros, then I believe England should go with a front four of Kane, Sterling, Rashford and Dele, with Winks and Henderson both holding.
