In his first interview as a Tottenham player, Destiny Udogie has admitted that he is honoured to sign for such a big club.

Spurs officially confirmed the signing of Udogie from Udinese on Tuesday and revealed that the youngster would be returning to the Serie A club on loan for the 2022/23 season.

According to reports, Tottenham will pay an initial £15m to the Italian club for the left-back, with the fee potentially rising to £18m including add-ons (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold).

Udogie said in his first interview with Spurs TV that he is excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League and working with a coach of the calibre of Antonio Conte.

The 19-year-old added that he wants to continue developing as a player this season back at Udinese before returning to Spurs in a year’s time.

Udogie’s profile is an exact fit for what Conte looks for in his wing-backs, with the teenager quite proficient in one vs one situations, both defensively and offensively. While the Italy Under-21 international is still raw, Conte will believe that the youngster can develop into a world-class wing-back with the right coaching.
