Video: Bryan Gil scores two goals on international duty amidst links away from Spurs

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil scored a brace for Spain’s Under-21s as they thrashed Northern Ireland 6-0 in a Euro 2023 qualifier.

Gil has not made a single Premier League start for Tottenham since arriving at the club last summer, with the winger being loaned out to Valencia for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

The 21-year-old showed glimpses of his quality during his time at the Mestalla and reports indicate that Valencia are keen on extending the player’s loan (Tribuna Deportiva).

Real Sociedad are also said to have made contact with Gil about a potential loan move ahead of next season (Mundo Deportivo).

Meanwhile, some reports have suggested that Spurs wish to cash in on the youngster and would only consider loaning him out if a suitable offer does not arrive for the player this summer (AS on 30/05/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness).

The youngster certainly did his chances of attracting bids this summer no harm with the performance he put in for Spain’s Under-21s on Friday.

The Spaniards, who were assured of top spot in Group C heading into the clash, put six past the Irish, with Gil getting the second and third goals of the game.

The Tottenham man first broke the offside trap to convert just five minutes after the restart before netting another after the hour mark, having been left unmarked at the back post.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even if Spurs feel that Gil has no long-term future in the Premier League, I would expect the club to loan him out this summer rather than sell him. Another six months or a year out on loan is only likely to raise the winger’s market value.
