Video: Chimbonda calls for Mourinho to keep selecting error-prone defender

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Pascal Chimbonda believes that Jose Mourinho should keep faith with Serge Aurier, even if the right-back makes the odd mistake.

Aurier has a reputation of being erratic at times which has ended up costing his side dearly, such as the foolish penalty he conceded late in the first half defeat to Leicester City in December.

Chimbonda, who also operated as a right-back highlighted in an exclusive interview with SpursWeb of how Aurier had been used to playing in a dominant PSG side who used to dominate possession and has had to adapt to being in a Spurs side who do not get their lions share of possession in comparison to the French giants.

The 41-year-old believes that Aurier’s game will continue to improve if he remains in the starting eleven, rather than finding himself out of the starting eleven if he does slip up.

After his mistake against Leicester, Aurier found himself missing from the Premier League line-up for the two following fixtures (transfermarkt).
