Video: Christian Eriksen opens up on the challenges of recovering from cardiac arrest

Christian Eriksen has admitted in his first interview with Brentford’s official channel that he knew he would return to professional football just two days after his cardiac arrest last summer.

Eriksen had an ICD device implanted in his heart following his cardiac arrest in Denmark Euro 2020 clash against Finland (inews).

That meant that the 29-year-old could not continue plying his trade in Italy as regulations in the country do not allow professional sportsmen to continue competing with such a device (Guardian).

After agreeing to terminate his contract with Inter in December, the former Spurs man sealed a return to the Premier League, penning a six-month contract with the Bees.

In his first interview with Brentford’s official channel, Eriksen spoke about the challenges of recovering from his ordeal and his delight at returning to England.

It is brilliant to see Eriksen back in the Premier League. It is a shame that Brentford have already played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season as the29-year-old would have got a wonderful reception from the Spurs faithful. I am desperate for the Dane to do well over the next few months and get his career back on track.
