Video: Clive Allen urges club to bring back former stars

Tottenham have progressed considerably as a team since Mauricio Pochettino came to the club in 2014. In the five years since then, Spurs have challenged for the title on a couple of occasions, and become Champions League regulars.

However, the team hasn’t been able to cross the finishing line and get their hands on silverware as of yet.

Former Spurs striker and coach Clive Allen has recommended what the club can do to remedy that – sign a couple of “winners”, specifically former Spurs stars Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

Modric and Bale were both part of the Spurs team that played some terrific football under Harry Redknapp several years ago. Both players have won the biggest trophies in the world during their time at Madrid.

However, the Spanish giants have endured a difficult season, and it has been reported that Los Blancos are set to overhaul their squad in the summer.

Both Bale and Modric have been linked with moves away from the club, with Tottenham being one of the clubs mooted as a possible destination for the pair.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Allen said that the pair would be welcomed back by the fans and will bring a winning mentality to the club.
