Antonio Conte has praised Hugo Lloris’ performance against West Ham and admitted that the Frenchman is a very important player for the club.

Lloris’ current deal runs out at the end of the season but according to reports over recent weeks, the Frenchman is set to be offered a contract extension by the club before January.

The 34-year-old displayed his quality and leadership in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over West Ham, producing some crucial saves and making some brave clearances from set pieces.

Speaking after the game Conte not only had positive words about the Spurs captain but he also praised Steven Bergwijn’s display after coming into the starting eleven.

The Italian credited his players for being ready to ‘suffer’ in the final 20 minutes to help see out the win.
