Video: Crouch and Hoddle claim Spurs can’t challenge top four even with Conte

Speaking after Tottenham’s 3-2 win over Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League, Peter Crouch insisted that the current Tottenham squad is not capable of getting into the top-four even with Antonio Conte at the helm.

Crouch was part of BT Sport’s panel along with his former Spurs teammate Jermaine Jenas and Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle.

Hoddle agreed with Crouch’s assessment of the current Tottenham squad not having enough quality to compete for Champions League qualification.

The 64-year-old insisted that it is time for Daniel Levy to fully back the managing director of football Fabio Paratici and Conte so that they can build a team that can compete at the top end of the league.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no doubt that the Tottenham squad needs investment. However, I also think a lot of pundits and fans tend to underrate our squad because of the fact that we have underperformed over the last couple of years.

Irrespective of how much investment Conte was promised, the Italian would not have come to Spurs if he did not see some potential in the current squad. I believe we are potentially just two top-class signings away from competing with the best sides in the league.
