Video: Dane Scarlett scores in second consecutive appearance for Portsmouth

On-loan Tottenham striker Dane Scarlett has now scored two in two for Portsmouth, with the striker finding the back of the net in the EFL trophy clash against Crawley Town on Tuesday.

Scarlett opened his account in front of goal for the season in the League One club’s 1-0 win against Port Vale on Saturday.

The striker started on the bench against Crawley on Tuesday and replaced Ronan Curtis just past the hour mark.

The 18-year-old thought he had netted the match-winner when he turned impressively and found the bottom corner in the 82nd minute to put his side 2-1 up.

However, David Bremang scored a stoppage-time equaliser for Crawley, who eventually emerged 6-5 winners in a penalty shootout.

Scarlett stepped up to take the first spot kick for the away side but saw his effort saved by David Robson.

The way Scarlett used his body and quick feet to turn the defender was quite impressive and his finish was excellent. It is a shame that the teenager failed to cover his penalty but that can happen to anyone. There is no doubt that his confidence would have grown immensely over the last few days on the back of scoring two from two.
