Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Christian Eriksen should have left the club a long time ago.

The Danish international signed a contract with Inter Milan until 2024 after Spurs agreed on a fee of around £16.9m with the Italian giants (BBC).

Eriksen departs North London having made 305 appearances for the club and scored 69 goals (Spurs official).

Murphy claimed that it appeared for some time that it looked like Eriksen was not fully invested with his efforts at Spurs.

The pundit also highlighted the reason why no big clubs have previously come in for him was due to the fact he struggled in the big matches against the best opposition due to his lack of physicality.

  1. The guy was grossly overrated. He had 2 good seasons out of how many at Spurs! 1 goal from a free kick in 4 years for a supposed free kick specialist… caaaaamaaaan. Can count on one hand how many times he actually showed up against big teams. He definitely should have left 2 seasons ago.
