Darren Bent has claimed that Daniel Levy did not allow Dele Alli to complete a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain since the Spurs chairman did not want to risk looking ‘stupid’ if the midfielder had started doing well for the Ligue 1 club.
It was reported that Daniel Levy blocked the midfielder from joining PSG on loan even though the player, Jose Mourinho and Mauricio Pochettino wanted the move to go through.
Pochettino was reportedly left frustrated with the Spurs chairman for not letting him reunite with Alli.
Bent suggested that Tottenham fans would have been left furious had Alli started banging in the goals for PSG and if the North Londoners continued to struggle.
Here’s what the former Spurs striker said on talkSPORT regarding the collapsed transfer:
🙏 “PSG was the chance of a lifetime.”
😫 “Levy didn’t want to look stupid. Alli would have ripped it up at PSG.”
😡 “Spurs fans would’ve asked why they let him go if they’re not playing well.”@DarrenBent explains why he feels Daniel Levy didn’t let Dele Alli go to PSG. pic.twitter.com/79DkETg7P1

Spurs Web Opinion
If our form had not declined so drastically over the past month and a half, I suspect Levy might have allowed Alli to leave. However, given our recent struggles, it certainly will not be a good look for the club if the midfielder produces the goods for PSG, while Spurs are struggling to get goals from their midfield players.
