Darren Bent believes that rumoured transfer target Diego Costa could not play alongside Harry Kane.
Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move to the former Chelsea forward, who has just a year to run on his contract at Atletico Madrid (Daily Star).
The Spanish outfit are said to be open to willing to let him leave for a decent price rather than run the risk of losing him for free.
Bent claims that Costa is better suited to act as a back-up to the England international and urged the North Londoners to get him if the 31-year-old is happy to provide cover.
The former Spurs forward believes that Kane is better suited playing upfront on his own and interlinking with wide players such as Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura, rather than operating as a partnership and having less space to move into.
Costa has previously worked with Mourinho during their time together at Stamford Bridge.
“He would be fantastic to Spurs! Could you play Kane & Costa together?”
