Video: Dawson and Redknapp critical of Spurs star for role in Arsenal goal

Michael Dawson and Jamie Redknapp have both criticised the Tottenham Hotspur defence for their failure to deal with Arsenal’s equaliser in the first half, with both former Spurs stars blaming Matt Doherty for not cutting out the attack.

Tottenham were second best during the first-half but it looked like the away side were set to go into the break 1-0 up on the back of Erik Lamela’s moment of magic.

However, the Gunners eventually broke through at the end of the half with Martin Odegaard’s deflected strike giving Hugo Lloris no chance.

Dawson and Redknapp both felt that Doherty should have done better when he found himself one vs one against Kieran Tierney.

Here’s what the pundits said on Sky Sports about Arsenals equaliser:

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal’s equaliser at the end of the first-half was one of the most crucial moments of the game. Had we gone into the interval 1-0 up, we could have potentially had more joy on the counter in the second half.

While the Gooners certainly deserved a goal for their efforts in that first-half, it was disappointing to see the soft manner of the goal that we gave away. Doherty has certainly not done his chances of getting a sustained run in the starting line up any favours.
