England footballer Ella Toone joked that she taught Harry Kane how to chip a goalkeeper after the Tottenham star praised her finish in the Euro 2022 final.
The Lionesses have captured the nation’s imagination with their performance in the European Championship and they managed to finally bring football home after beating Germany in the final at Wembley in front of a capacity crowd.
Toone, who represents Manchester United in the Women’s Super League, opened the scoring for the home side, producing a lovely dinked finish after being played through on goal.
The Germans then equalised through Lina Magull in the 79th minute to take the fixture into extra time but the Lionesses were not to be denied as Manchester City forward Chloe Kelly scored the match winner in the second half of extra-time.
Kane took to social media to praise Toone on her chipped finish and congratulate the ladies on the dramatic win.
