Tottenham Hotspur have certainly reached a new level in the past year under Mauricio Pochettino after reaching their first-ever Champions League Final.

When the Argentine first took over, Spurs were on the brink of achieving Champions League football, but they have since becoming regulars and now even challengers.

As the stature of the club increases and the prize money with it, new contracts tend to include increased wages for the players.

Ex-Spurs star, David Bentley, believes that putting the likes of Kane on top money while leaving others like Eriksen on a lot less can cause dressing room unrest.

  1. There can be little doubt but that Kanes salary increase has had some negative effects in Spurs dressing room. Originally planned to be the leading edge of a new salary structure; Poch and Levy were surprised that Kane took the increase and then immediately abandoned Tottenham in order to devot nis energy to being “Captaiin England”. Kane has the skills and ability to make a huge contribution at Tottenham and many Spurs fans hope he will return to put his energy into delivering for Spurs (the team that pays his wages) rather than devoting himself to form destroying, jingoistic international matches which hurt Tottenham and may limit the potential of his professional career.
