Video: Fabrizio Romano provides update on Tottenham’s Vlahovic pursuit

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in a move for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the January transfer window.

Over the past few weeks, many contradictory reports have emerged over Vlahovic’s future.

CalcioMercato reported that the race for the Serbian international was between Spurs, Arsenal and Juventus but it later emerged that Manchester City have also entered the race for the centre-forward.

Corriere Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) claimed last week that Spurs were ‘slipping away’ in the race for Vlahovic after the emergence of interest by the Premier League champions.

However, Gazzetta Dello Sport have since stated that City and Spurs are the front-runners for the Fiorentina star ahead of Juventus.

Romano has now revealed that Spurs did show interest in Vlahovic during the summer transfer window and that the striker continues to be on the North London club’s radar ahead of January.

He revealed that the Viola are demanding no less than €70m (£59.6m) for the Serbian next month.

Romano also ruled out the chances of Vlahovic moving to Arsenal and suggested that Juve will find it difficult to meet Fiorentina’s asking price for the striker in January.

Spurs Web Opinion

There are a couple of reasons why I do not expect Spurs to win the race for Vlahovic. I suspect that the club mainly showed interest in the Serbian in the summer since they feared losing Harry Kane.

I do not see us spending £60m on a number 9 in January now that the England captain looks set to stay. I also expect Europe’s biggest clubs to be after Vlahovic given the sensational form he has been in so far this season.
