When it comes to substitutes coming into the first team and making an impact, Fernando Llorente’s Champions League season in 2018/19 should go down in history.
As nothing more than a sporadic fringe player before Harry Kane’s injuries, Llorente came into the first team set up to lead Spurs to their first ever Champions League final.
Fernando bagged goals against Borussia Dortmund and Man City in the competition, before setting up the last minute winner against Ajax that saw Spurs reach the final in Madrid.
Llorente’s contract comes to an end today (TransferMarkt), and one fan has paid tribute to the hero with a compilation on Twitter.
