Video: Former Arsenal man insists Spurs midfielder should start playing for himself

Former Arsenal winger Perry Groves has told Dele Alli to stop worrying about what Jose Mourinho thinks and start playing for himself when he is given an opportunity.

Alli was handed a rare start by Jose Mourinho against Royal Antwerp on Thursday but was withdrawn at half-time by the Spurs boss after a lacklustre display.

Groves admitted that the midfielder looked like a player who is extremely low in confidence.

He suggested that it might be due to the fact that Alli, for the first time in his career, is playing under a coach who does not seem to rate him.

The former Arsenal man asked the 24-year-old to be more selfish and ensure that he gives 100 per cent on the pitch.
