Video: Former Scottish international urges Spurs star to focus on playing football

Dele Alli has been urged to concentrate on his footballing career by former Burnley and Watford striker Chris Iwelumo.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has suffered four left hamstring strains in the past two years which have limited his impact at club level (Guardian).

The former MK Dons player was in dazzling form in his first two seasons at White Hart Lane when he scored a total of 28 Premier League goals during 2015/16 and 2016/17.

His rise to prominence saw him represent England at senior level and also bagged his fair share of off-field commercial activities including his partnership with fashion retailer Boohoo.

The Mirror recently reported that the 23-year-old has cut his promotional work and hired a nutritionist in a bid to overcome his injury problems.

Iwelumo believes that Dele’s focus needs to be fully on his football and forget about the limelight if he is to fight his way back into Gareth Southgate’s plans for England.

Here’s what Iwelumo had to say on talkSPORT.
