Video: Former Spur blasts players and club for not looking after furloughed staff

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes that if the club decide to reverse their decision to furlough staff it would go some way towards repairing their reputation.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy announced last week that 550 non-playing staff would receive a pay cut for April and May and the club would use the furlough scheme to pay 80% of their wage where possible.

Liverpool decided to reverse their furlough plans after strong criticism from supporters and former players (Guardian).

O’Hara has questioned Tottenham’s decision to risk their global reputation over what is a small amount of money given their financial strength by labelling it as a stupid decision.

The playing staff have not received a wage cut with O’Hara admitting he is disappointed that the high earners within the Spurs changing room should be looking after the staff.

He is hoping that the likes of Dele Alli and Harry Kane are potentially looking into the situation of how they can assist the employees.
