Video: Former Spur reveals that Pochettino and out of favour player had ‘a special bond’

Andros Townsend has revealed that Danny Rose and Mauricio Pochettino had such a close professional relationship that it was almost like he was the son of the former Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Rose played under the Argentine for the five-and-a-half years he was in charge of the North London club, including a start in the Champions League final.

The left-back’s career has stalled under current boss Jose Mourinho after he was frozen out of the first team and now looks set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Townsend, recalled his time at Tottenham where he used to see Pochettino and Rose frequently in his office and the pair were also often seen on ‘romantic’ walks around the Hotspur Way training ground to have deep one-on-one conversations, the current Crystal Palace winger joked.
