Former Tottenham striker, Darren Bent, has opened up on Gareth Bale’s transformation during his time in North London.
Bent signed for Spurs from Charlton in the summer of 2007, the same summer that Bale arrived from Southampton.
The former England striker recalled how the pacey Welshman’s terrific technique and pace were there for all to see even when he was struggling to get into the Tottenham team.
Bent also discussed Bale’s winless run at the start of his Spurs career and revealed how he suddenly packed on a considerable amount of muscle over one summer.
Listen to what the 36-year-old said about his former Spurs teammate on talkSPORT:
👏 “What a guy. I’ve got so much respect for what he’s been through.”
🤩 “You could see the raw talent was there."

Spurs Web Opinion
While Bale’s winless record is often talked about, the reality is that he actually hit the ground running at Spurs when he arrived. He was sensational in the first few games under Martin Jol in the 2007-08 season but, unfortunately, he suffered an injury which meant that he hardly featured under Ramos. His confidence took a massive hit as a result and he only regained some of his belief when Redknapp moved him further forward.
