Watch: Former Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris makes MLS goalmouth blunder

Hugo Lloris made a huge howler in his Los Angeles FC’s MLS loss to San Diego on Sunday, which the Tottenham legend will not want to watch back.

Lloris was a fine servant and a leader for Spurs, and his 12-year journey at the North London club came to an end at the start of last year, with the goalkeeper making a move to the United States.

He had a final first season between the sticks for LAFC, and the 38-year-old had made an impressive start to the new campaign, having conceded just one goal in four matches prior to Sunday.

However, it came undone at the Snapdragon Stadium yesterday, with San Diego running riot in the first half and Lloris having one very poor moment. Look away Tottenham fans.

San Diego got an indirect set-price opportunity on 33 minutes and the ball was floated into the box, with Lloris deciding to come and claim it.

Despite not being under any pressure whatsoever, the former Tottenham Hotspur number one spilt the ball, leaving San Diego midfielder Onni Valakari with the easy task of putting the ball into an open net.

That made it 2-0 to the home side, who would then race into a 3-0 lead on 40 minutes before LAFC pulled two back later in the game.

Former Tottenham captain is still capable of brilliance

This mistake from the Tottenham icon should not take away from the fact that he has been in sublime form between the sticks for LAFC, proving to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the MLS despite being towards the fag end of his career.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Lloris produced one of the saves of the season in LAFC’s Concacaf Champions Cup clash against Columbus, diving full stretch to his right to produce a stop from point-blank range.
