Video: ‘From the horses mouth’ – Former player claims Pochettino wants Spurs return

Alan Brazil has claimed that he has it on good authority that Mauricio Pochettino wants to return to the Premier League and rejoin Tottenham Hotspur.

Brazil, who fronts talkSPORT’S Breakfast radio show was reading a media report which suggested that Pochettino has no intention of leaving Paris Saint-Germain and quickly shared his understanding of the situation by insisting that was not the case.

The former Spurs striker was asked by Ray Parlour to reveal his source and claimed that chairman Daniel Levy was summoned to the Bahamas in January to meet with owner Joe Lewis.

Brazil did not rule out the prospect of Pochettino taking over at Manchester United but did claim that he does know that in the Argentine’s heart, he wants a return to north London.

The Athletic claimed in July that Steve Hitchen was in discussions with the Argentine throughout May in a bid to convince him to return to the club following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal and talks ramped up following the end of Paris Saint-Germain’s season, however, he remained at the French club and Spurs instead moved for Nuno Espirito Santo.

If Antonio Conte decides to walk away from Tottenham this summer, the only manager which the vast majority of supporters would pin their hopes on would be Mauricio Pochettino. However, would the emotional return to his former club be enough given the magnitude of the task at hand, or would he instead flourish at United where he would receive the backing of their board in the transfer market.
