Former Tottenham winger Gareth Bale has had an incredible career so far in which he has demolished several teams, won almost every major trophy there is to win and become a superstar.
However, Bale is arguably having the toughest season of his career till date. He has been criticised extensively by the Spanish press for his attitude, and his own fans have jeered him off the pitch.
While he has still managed to score 14 goals in all competitions this season, it has been suggested in the press that this could the Welshman’s last season at the Santiago Bernabéu, with Tottenham being mooted among the possible destinations.
Now, the Welshman has opened up on his time at Spurs as well as Madrid in BT Sport’s What I Wore segment. In the interview, Bale says that he only realised how big a club Tottenham are after he moved to the club.
He said, “I went to the stadium and the training ground and they talk to you and show you the history.
“It is such a big club, and I had an amazing time.”
The 29-year-old also said that while he enjoyed his time at Spurs, he simply couldn’t turn down an offer from Real Madrid.

He added, “I appreciated everything Tottenham had done for me but I think they did understand at the time that when such a big club comes in for you like Real Madrid it is difficult to turn them down.
“Even though I was enjoying my time at Tottenham, loved the club and I still do, to have Real Madrid come for you, you’ll regret saying no.”
