Video: Giovani Lo Celso scores another goal for Villarreal on loan from Spurs

Sergio Reguilon made his first start of the season for Atletico Madrid while Giovani Lo Celso found the back of the net for Villarreal in their loss against Rayo Vallecano.

It has been a frustrating last 18 months from Sergio Reguilon, who has had a series of injury problems which have prevented him from building any sort of momentum and getting game time under his belt.

The Spaniard has watched from the sidelines for much of his loan spell at Atletico Madrid and has been largely overlooked by Diego Simeone when he has been fit.

The 27-year-old has been getting some minutes from the bench over recent weeks and he finally got his first start of the season on Sunday, completing 70 minutes in Atletico’s 2-1 victory against Real Sociedad at home.

Meanwhile, Giovani Lo Celso came off the bench to score a late consolation goal for Villarreal in their 2-1 defeat at Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

The Argentine ghosted into the box unmarked and met a looping cross from the left with a perfectly directed header into the bottom corner.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of all the experienced Tottenham players who are currently out on loan, I feel Lo Celso has the best chance of rescuing his career in North London.

The incoming Spurs head coach might see a role for the Argentine, whose versatility means that he can fit into a number of different formations.
