Video: Graham Roberts gives his opinion on Bale’s performances and whether he will return next season

Graham Roberts has admitted that he does not expect Gareth Bale to be at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The 31-year-old has struggled to live up to the hype that was met with news of his return to North London when fans lined the road outside the Hotspur Way training ground to greet their former favourite son.

The former defender claimed that the Welshman had little impact during the 25 minute appearance he made in the FA Cup third round tie against non-league minnows Marine.

Roberts cannot see the club looking to contribute in the region of £250,000-a-week again next season towards Bale’s wages for a player who has struggled for regular first-team football this season and instead believes that the Real Madrid player needs to look to bring the approach to matches that he does with the Welsh national team if he is to show an improvement in his performance.

Bale has only managed to play in 12 matches in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s side this season (transfermarkt).
