Harry Redknapp has urged Jose Mourinho to try and help Gareth Bale rebuild his confidence and asserted that the Welshman is still a top player.
It was under the stewardship of Redknapp that Bale transformed from an injury-prone left-back to one of the most dangerous wide players in Europe.
At his peak, the on-loan Real Madrid star got past players with ease and was capable of changing the game at any time.
However, the Bale we have seen this season has been a shadow of the player he was in his first spell at Tottenham as he has struggled to make much of an impact when opportunities have come his way.
Redknapp believes that the 31-year-old has not got a consistent run in the side to build up his confidence and urged Mourinho to put an arm over the Wales international’s shoulder during training.

In fairness to Mourinho, he has continued to defend the Welshman publicly and never seems to be critical of him. However, Redknapp does have a point when he says that the 31-year-old needs a run of matches to build momentum.
