Video: Harry Winks delivers rare assist to help England break the deadlock against Ireland

Gareth Southgate named Harry Winks in his England starting eleven in last night’s friendly against the Republic of Ireland.

While Harry Kane and Eric Dier both watched on from the sidelines, Winks played a pivotal part in helping to break the deadlock.

Mason Mount’s corner kick was cleared by the Irish defence after 17 minutes and the ball arrived at the feet of the Tottenham midfielder and he played a looping ball into the penalty area which was met by the head of Harry Maguire to put the hosts ahead.

Spurs fans are certainly not used to seeing Winks chipping in with an assist after only managing to provide two in 184 matches in all competitions for the North London outfit (transfermarkt).
