The spoils were shared in the end between Tottenham and Arsenal in the North London Derby but either side could have walked away with the three points.

The game had no shortage of big moments and controversial incidents, with Harry Kane’s penalty claim towards the end, in particular, being the subject of a lot of debate post-match.

Ian Holloway has now weighed in on the debate and he has asserted that the Spurs striker purposefully looked for contact and went over.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Holloway accused the England captain of being a repeat offender in this respect.

Irrespective of whether one feels the incident warranted a penalty or not, to accuse Kane of diving is completely ridiculous. There was clear contact and strikers do the same thing outside the box all the time and reliably win fouls.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. You’re putting up the usual lame defence, that everyone’s doing it, so why pick on Kane? Because it’s cheating, that’s why, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s Salah, Zaha or Kane, it’s still wrong, and only really serious action is going to stop it. It’s sad that so many Spurs fans are happy to excuse Kane, Alli and Lamela, all serial offenders, while criticising Ashley Young or the aforementioned Mo and Wilf for exactly the same thing, and a five match ban would be my solution, doubling for each further dive, until players get the message and clean up their act.
