Video: ‘He needs to man up’ – Former Man City player on Harry Kane

Former Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong has insisted that Manchester City are not solely to blame for Harry Kane’s misfiring start to the new Premier League season.

The 28-year-old is yet to find the back of the net in his first four top flight matches of the new campaign.

It is the first time since the 2015/16 campaign in which the striker had suffered such a dry spell and has only attempted four shots on goal this season (Opta).

De Jong claimed that Kane needs to ‘man up’ after his failed move to the Etihad Stadium this summer and needs to move forward and focus on the future with Tottenham.

The Premier League champions were keen to sign the England international but found Tottenham not in the mood to come to the negotiating table (MEN).

Kane’s only two goals in Tottenham colours this season came in the UEFA Conference League play-off second leg against Pacos de Ferreira (transfermarkt).
