Tottenham played out their first draw of the season against Arsenal at Wembley yesterday. While Aaron Ramsey opened the scoring for Arsenal in what was his last North London derby, Tottenham equalized in the second half through a Harry Kane penalty.
It could have all turned out so different in the end as Arsenal were awarded a penalty late in the game for an alleged foul by Davinson Sanchez on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
When the Gabonese international stepped up to take the kick, Arsenal fans were expecting the net to ripple, and the 29-year-old to pull out a new mask during his celebration just like he had promised the fans before the game.
However, Hugo Lloris saved Aubameyang’s penalty and Jan Vertonghen blocked the follow-up attempt, thus deflating Arsenal fans’ expectations.
