Video: ‘I can’t see myself playing for any other team’ – Alderweireld on new contract

Toby Alderweireld has now spoken of the honour of signing a three and a half year extension with Tottenham thereby committing his future to the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.

The defender, who has had four and a half excellent seasons at the club since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2015, also admitted that he couldn’t see himself playing for any other team after the connection he has built with the club and the supporters.

He also thanked the North London faithful for their support and admitted that he wants to win some major trophies before leaving the club.

Toby deserves a lot of credit for how he has carried himself both on and off the pitch despite the issues with his contract. No one can accuse the 30-year-old of a lack of commitment or desire as he has always given his all on the pitch. This contract is very much well deserved.
