Heung-min Son has claimed that his personal performance on the pitch this season means nothing when Tottenham Hotspur have experienced a disappointing campaign.

After topping the Premier League table at the start of December, some pundits were tipping Jose Mourinho’s side to win the title, however, the club have experienced a spectacular fall from grace in recent months.

Mourinho was given his marching orders by Daniel Levy with the club having experienced a surprise exit in the Europa League at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb, while they also trail fourth-place Chelsea by five points in the race to secure a route back into the Champions League.

Son admits that Tottenham should be competing higher up the table than the seventh place they currently occupy going into this weekend.

The South Korean has highlighted the importance of finishing the season strongly, starting with Sunday’s match against relegated Sheffield United in North London.

  1. Perhaps if he put in the effort needed to win trophies instead of Sundays pathetic 90 mins that he dished up, he may be smiling instead of crying. Its all very well turning it on against the lower tabled teams but his performances in the two Finals of recent times has been nothing short of abysmal. Kane ran more in 45 mins with one leg than Son did with two over 90 mins. on Sunday. So we start piping and feeling sorry for himself at the end. Sorry Sonny, but most Spurs fans are not that gullible. Watch the 90 mins back and see how many minutes he spent standing still or walking, you’d be shocked. The last few weeks, he has been awful, goals and assists dried up and a demeanour that looks like he doesn’t want to be here. I’ve often thought that if he doesn’t score, he doesn’t ‘play’ and that’s how its panned out. Good player no doubt and worth a bomb in shirt sales but if we have to raise money to keep Kane, this is the player to sell.
