Jermain Defoe has revealed that he was desperate to re-join Tottenham Hotspur while he was at Portsmouth.
In an interview with Clare Balding on BT Sport, the striker told a story of his time at Pompey when former Arsenal defender Tony Adams was in charge.
Adams gave the players an ultimatum that if they did not want to be at the club, to come and see him in the morning.
Defoe took the manager up on the offer an engineered a move back to Spurs under Harry Redknapp, who had played a part in getting the England striker to leave Fratton Park.
