Video: “It’s a fresh start for everyone” – Spurs defender enjoying life under Nuno

Japhet Tanganga has admitted that the arrival of Nuno Espirito Santo has given each player a fresh start at the club.

Tanganga captained Tottenham during the second half of their 3-0 win against Colchester United last night to secure the club’s first victory of their pre-season campaign.

The defender suffered an injury hit campaign last season which limited him to just thirteen appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old thanked the club’s medical staff for helping him with his rehabilitation to get him back on the pitch.

Tanganga admitted that the players have returned to pre-season with a positive mindset following the appointment of the former Wolves boss.

The former academy graduate believes that every player has the opportunity to take with both hands and can only blame themselves if they do not put in the effort and work, which is the general feeling in the dressing room.

Tanganga certainly has the right attitute to succeed under Nuno and given his injury problems last season, he’ll be hoping to keep himself fit and become a regular fixture in the side.

Having operated as a right-back under Jose Mourinho, Tanganga has openly admitted that he prefers to play as a central defender and could get the opportunity given the uncertainty over the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez.
