Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a draw against Southampton yesterday in the FA Cup fourth round, meaning that a replay will be needed between the Premier League sides.
The match followed the same pattern as Spurs’ third-round effort, ending in a 1-1 draw and the need for a replay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs have booked their name in the fifth round draw on January 27 for now, but the last thing the club needed is another fixture to add to the growing list.
The away side looked on their way into the next round just before the hour, when Heung-min Son finished off a superb driving run from Giovani Lo Celso.
Sofiane Boufal’s late equaliser means that the sides have it all to do again in North London.
