Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly now leading the race to sign Barcelona star, Philippe Coutinho on loan for the upcoming season (Sky Sports News).
The attacking midfielder worked under Mauricio Pochettino for six months while both were at Espanyol.
Sky Sports even claim that Pochettino has telephoned the player up personally to convince him to join the North London club.
In a press conference in Miami ahead of their pre-season friendly against Napoli, Barcelona legend Gerard Pique has now spoken about the Brazilian’s future, stating that it is all about what Coutinho wants and that he wants him to be happy.
Pique said: “I don’t know. Obviously, I want him to stay, but at the end of the day, it’s what he wants and I want him to be happy. Let’s see. Until the last day of the transfer market, we will not know if he stays or not. But, it’s not my decision, it’s the club’s and Philippe’s.”
