Many people talk about Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld being one of the best defenders in the Premier League, but Jan Vertonghen is a remarkably underrated star.
I would argue that Jan has been Tottenham’s best defender in the Champions League campaign this season, as well as one of the best attacking contributors.
Who can forget his man of the match winning game at home to Dortmund, after he scored and assisted in the 3-0 demolition.
Vertonghen then travelled to Germany and showed what he could do as a defender, with his last-ditch challenge on Reus being one of the best tackles in the competition this season, in my opinion.
