Video: Jenas admits he has been surprised with Tottenham’s management of Tanganga

Jermaine Jenas has expressed his surprise at why only now Tottenham Hotspur have started to play Japhet Tanganga.

The academy graduate was part of Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-season squad for the tour of the Far East and the Audi Cup where he caught the eye, especially with how he coped against Ronaldo when Spurs took on Juventus.

Apart from making his senior debut under Pochettino in the Carabao Cup defeat at Colchester in September, he did not see any further first team action before the Argentine was sacked.

Mourinho handed Tanganga his Premier League debut in Saturday’s defeat to Liverpool and retained his place in the starting eleven for last night’s FA Cup third round replay victory against Middlesbrough.

The 20-year-old was named by the BBC as the Man of the Match with Jenas praising how well Tanganga has adapted to life in the first team whilst admitting that he hopes Mourinho continues to pick him.
