Video: Jermaine Jenas fears Jose Mourinho is trying to edge-out Spurs star

Jermaine Jenas has claimed that he fears Jose Mourinho is trying to edge Dele Alli out of the Tottenham first-team picture.

Dele has sidelined with a hamstring problem that he picked up prior to the win againt Everton with Mourinho insisting that the issue is not serious (Football.London).

In the England international’s absence, Giovani Lo Celso has often been tasked with playing the more advanced role in midfield with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko primarily shielding the back four.

Jenas conveyed his worry at how things have gone downhill for the Spurs midfielder inrecent months and feared that his time at North London could be up.

Here’s what the former Tottenham man said about Alli to BBC 5 Live Sport:

Spurs Web Opinion

The variation of the 4-4-2 we played the other day seemed to work really well as it offered the back four plenty of protection, while also allowing Kane to play close to Son. If we continue playing like that, it is hard to see where Dele will fit in.

However, the 24-year-old has continued to be picked by Jose when he is fit. The Spurs boss cannot be blamed for his hamstring troubles. It will certainly be interesting to see if Jose can get the best out of Dele while playing the sort of counter-attacking style the team is adopting.
