Video: Jermaine Jenas questions Gareth Bale’s hunger after what he has witnessed

Jermaine Jenas, Peter Crouch and Rio Ferdinand have dissected the reasons behind Gareth Bale’s struggles this season during BT Sport’s post-match coverage of Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Tottenham on Thursday.

Jose Mourinho only brought Bale on in the 81st minute of the game despite his side trailing by two goals.

Ferdinand admitted that he has been disappointed by what he has seen of Bale this season while Jenas questioned if the Welshman still has the hunger and the legs to take games by the scruff of the neck.

The pundits also touched on Carlos Vinicius’ lack of game time this season and suggested that perhaps the Brazilian, like Bale, is not doing enough to impress Mourinho in training.

I believe Bale’s struggles has less do with a lack of desire and more to do with the fact that he does not trust his own body. However, there were signs in his performance against Wycombe that he was getting his fitness back as he seemed more willing to take players on. With Kane now likely to be out for a few weeks, hopefully, the Welshman can step up and make an impact.
