Video: Jim White reveals Mourinho was ‘more than happy’ to see Spurs star leave today

According to talkSPORT’s Jim White, Jose Mourinho was more than happy to see Dele Alli leave Tottenham before the transfer window closes at 11 pm but Daniel Levy is refusing to authorise the midfielder’s move to Paris Saint-Germain.

There has been plenty of speculation over the past month linking Alli with a move to the Ligue 1 giants but The Evening Standard reported this morning that the midfielder was likely to stay put at Tottenham.

The report claimed that Tottenham were keen on bringing in a replacement for the England international before letting him go and have decided to pull the plug on the deal since they are not likely to sign anyone.

White has now said that Alli remains keen to reunite with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG but Levy is not willing to let the 24-year-old leave, with the Spurs chairman having rejected three different offers from the Parisians.

Levy will naturally look to protect the club’s assets but I do not quite understand why he would be against a loan deal if Alli is not in Mourinho’s plans.

The midfielder’s value will take more of a hit if he spends the rest of the season on the Tottenham bench than if he gets some game time at PSG. Perhaps the Spurs chairman is playing hardball and trying to get PSG to increase their loan offer.
