Jose Mourinho has taken to social media to react to Son Heung-min winning the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal scored in a calendar year across the globe.
Son’s strike against Burnley in Tottenham’s 5-0 win last season was one of three goals that were shortlisted for the award last week along with Luiz Suarez’s goal against Mallorca and Flamengo midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta’s strike against Ceara.
The Tottenham forward’s solo-effort was declared the winner this evening which completes a great week for the 28-year-old on a personal level after being named the Korean Football Association Player of the Year.
Mourinho insisted that it was never in doubt that Son would take home the award. Here’s the message he sent the Spurs forward on Instagram:

The award is certainly well deserved for Son and it is good to see Jose being so quick to congratulate the forward publicly. Having picked up more than his fair share of individual awards recently, the South Korean will hopefully be able to top that off by winning silverware with Spurs this season.
