Tottenham Hotspur wasted the chance to go above Chelsea and into the top four today, as the Blues defeated the Lilywhites 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud and Marcos Alonso struck for the home side to give them a convincing 2-0 lead, with Spurs offering little in the way of chances for themselves.
Tottenham finally opened their account with just minutes left in the match after Erik Lamela’s cross deflected into the back of the net. However, they were unable to find a second.
