Tottenham Hotspur’s 4-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace on Saturday has once again bought back some positive feeling around the club after some major questions were being asked of the Lilywhites following their opening four Premier League games.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said on multiple occasions over the past few weeks that the team’s poor form had to do with several players being unsettled (Football.London).

To the Argentine’s relief, all of Tottenham’s main players remained at the club beyond the September 2nd transfer deadline.

Pochettino insisted that he was so relieved that the transfer market was closed that he was ready to throw a party (The Express).

The Daily Telegraph’s Chief Football Correspondent Jason Burt, however, has accused the Spurs manager of creating a false alarm.

Speaking to Sky Sports’, Sunday Supplement, Burt insisted that as far as he was aware, there were no offers for any of Spurs’ main players. He questioned if Pochettino tried to play up the situation as he himself was unsettled at the club.

No one knows what happened behind the scenes in the final few days before the close of the transfer market and so it is impossible to judge. It could be that Pochettino wasn’t necessarily referring to the big stars when he talked about the squad being unsettled with the likes of Serge Aurier and Victor Wanyama also being linked with moves away until the final few days.
