Video: Journalist claims Spurs star played his worst-ever game for the club

The Sun football journalist Martin Lipton has blasted Christian Eriksen’s performance against Olympiacos.

Lipton, speaking to talkSPORT described the 27-year-old’s display as the worst during his six years at Tottenham Hotspur.

Eriksen looked completely off the pace during the 2-2 draw in the Champions League opener in Greece and lost possession 22 times, more than any other player on the field. (The Sun).

The midfielder also played a key part in Olympiacos’ penalty which pulled them level when he was sloppy on the ball on the edge of his own area.

He was dispossessed and the resulting play saw Jan Vertonghen commit the foul on Mathieu Valbuena.

Opinion

Eriksen is out of contract in North London and his performance in Athens will certainly not be appreciated by the Spurs faithful, especially considering the ongoing uncertainty regarding his future.

Mauricio Pochettino must seriously consider benching him for the match against Leicester City on Saturday.
