Journalists Gabriele Marcotti and Julien Laurens have blasted Jose Mourinho for the tactics he employed during Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
Mourinho insisted after the game that there was little his side could have done differently with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both injured (Football.London), a claim that both Marcotti and Laurens have completely rejected.
Laurens questioned the point of adopting such a negative approach for the game while Marcotti insisted that the Lilywhites should have been more of a threat going forward after going 1-0 down following Olivier Giroud’s 15th-minute strike.

I actually believe that Mourinho’s tactics worked pretty effectively on Saturday as we largely managed to restrict Chelsea to a few chances. Had we not conceded the first goal when we did, I believe we would have made a much better fist of the encounter. Sadly, the timing of both goals pretty much killed us.
