Video: ‘Last chance’ – Carragher reveals how Dele Alli can turn his Spurs career around

Jamie Carragher has claimed after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool that it is now the last chance saloon for Dele Alli to save his Tottenham career.

Alli got his first Premier League start under Antonio Conte on Sunday as the Italian shifted from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2.

The former MK Dons man showed signs of being back to his old self, making several late runs into the box and showing aggression while pressing the likes of Naby Keita and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Carragher said after the game that the 25-year-old’s performance was reminiscent of what made him a superstar during Mauricio Pochettino’s days, raving about his ability to make runs in behind the opposition backline.

The former Liverpool defender also stated that it is now up to Alli himself, not Conte, to rejuvenate his Tottenham career after several false dawns over the last few years.

I agree with Redknapp that the 3-5-2 system is a good fit for Dele. The 25-year-old’s ability to cover a lot of ground on and off the ball, and the timing of his runs, have always been his best assets.

However, Spurs fans should be getting carried away after one good performance as we have seen several dawns for Dele, including one under Nuno at the start of the season.
