Video: Liverpool legend suggests Harry Kane’s role at Spurs is set to change

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that Harry Kane’s role in the Tottenham Hotspur side will change over the course of this season.

Kane produced a stunning performance in Tottenham’s 5-2 win against Southampton on Sunday with the England skipper playing a part in all five of his Spurs’ goals.

The forward assisted all four of Son Heung-min’s goals and rounded off his display by when he found the back of the net in the latter stages at St Mary’s.

Carragher admits that while he considers himself to be a big fan of the 27-year-old, he predicts that Kane will need pace around him in Heung-min Son and Gareth Bale.

The Sky Sports pundit used examples of the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Wayne Rooney and Teddy Sheringham as players who used to lead the line and moved into a deeper role.

Carragher highlighted Kane’s display against Southampton in which he provided the assist for all four of Heung-min Son’s goals as a glimpse of what fans may see from the academy graduate this season.
